BC - How does MySchool meet the needs of our BC community?

For over 10 years, MySchool has built a strong link with the Canadian marketplace. Our British Columbian schools have helped improve our entire system, and in turn, we have worked closely with them to meet the changing needs for official reporting in the province. We have used this experience to help our Ontario community as well. 

With our amazing BC MySchoolers, we have built;

• Learning outcome/standard based assessments - Our assessment module was designed to incorporate core competencies. We went further and created subject-based learning outcomes.
• Metered attendance system - The schedule management module was designed to incorporate ES audit requirements. Schools can automatically track student attendance by the minute.
• Branded and customisable report cards - MySchool assessment report builder was based on our BC community and their individual requirements. We understood that one fixed template was not enough. So we built a tool to meet everyone's requirements.
• IEP - Our schools asked us to update our IEP module based on new ministry requirements. We redesigned the module to accommodate an assessment-based system and more.
• Self-reflection - We created a student-facing tool to meet these requirements. Students can directly add comments to their grade reports. 
• Continuous assessments - Driven by schools that needed a tool to monitor student progression and apply a formative assessment in line with provincial guidelines.

In return for their valued input, we created easy-to-use tools to meet BC mandatory reporting;

• Custom student BC requirements/BC Subject details - Activated when a BC school is onboarded. 
• PSR/1704 - Complete the information on the student profile and link with our assessment system to automate completion.
• 1701 - Automated 1701 file for new students. Compatible STD download format based on ministry requirements. We had heard the feedback about the dreaded PSR days where admins and teachers would complete these forms by hand!
• TRAX data export (CRS/XAM) - Automated population for CRS/XAM data. Exported in the official format for upload. We are monitoring the transition towards EDX as well.
• DEM & PEN file download - Formatted for direct upload to the ministry's secure web service. Extracts data directly from the student's profile.

How do schools manage with MySchool and MyEd?

We reached out to our super users in BC and asked them the question.

The resounding reply was 'We don't'. 

Our BC schools are audited regularly and have no issues to report. We work closely with our community to try to be ahead of any proposed changes or requirements.

ES Audit uses our attendance records and extracts in a regulated format with FTE count. 

The 1701 report downloads using student data. It is formatted and ready for upload to the Secure web service.

XAM/CRS files are compiled using MySchool assessment data. They are formatted to requirements for an easy upload. MySchool transcripts can cover multiple years and are branded and built to the school's individual requirements.

To create the student paper file, MySchool fills out PSR, IEP and other information to reply to audit needs.

MySchool caters for summative and formative assessment modules. This provides flexibility to include learning standards and numerical grades where appropriate. We also cater for the IB curriculum.

Single parent login for guardians to monitor all aspects of their children's progress. whilst they are enrolled in a MySchool school.
