The legacy DQSE will be changed to MSSRS. A new permission will be added called 'Manage MSSRS'. This will need to be assigned to all user groups who need access to the Matsec reporting tool. Student exam session choices are exported from the Matsec system into your own MySchool platform. Once grades are added and synchronised with the reporting tool, they can be exported from MySchool for reimporting into the Matsec system.
Export student session exam choices
On the Matsec system, under reporting, there is a report labelled candidates report. This export is available for school staff under the reporting menu, Candidates report. Please do not alter the format of the export.
This report will contain data regarding the students who are enrolled in Matsec exams.
-
Student ID Card
The export will use the official Maltese ID format. This is 8 characters, 7 digits (0-9) and 1 letter (e.g. A, M, L, H). This is one of the key validation items to match student records with both systems. The most common validation error will be that there may be missing digits in your profiles. Use mass edit to update your grade 11 students.
-
Student First Name
-
Student Last Name
This will use the legal name from the central database, it may differ from your records. It will not be used to validate the import.
-
Student Date of Birth
The ID card and date of birth are the two required validation items. They must match on both systems. The export format should be YYYY-MM-DD.
-
Session
Do not change this on the import sheet. It must match the label shown in the MSSRS module. e.g. SEC Main Session 2025.
- School
The school names must match on both systems. We can alter your MySchool school name to match the Matsec name.
-
Matsec label of MSSRS Curricum
The subject names exported from Matsec are hard-coded to match the MSSRS subject label chosen. Don't forget to set up your subjects first.
Open the import/export tab on MSSRS and click import MATSEC Registration to set up the candidate's sessions.
The student must be enrolled in a course attached to a relevant subject which has an MSSRS subject configured.
After import, the data will be processed, and if any validation errors occur, an email will be sent listing these, i.e. ID Card, DoB, or enrolment issues.
Rectify these errors and try again.
Student details
The student list view shows each student, and clicking on their name brings a slide over.showing the students subjects and the grades if tthey have been computed. Click on the icon to go straight to the grading page for the subject if you wish to enter these manually.
Grading
If you have set up your subjects with the new tags, and grades have been entered, you can start to compute the grades. This will automatically pull the grades from your assessment module into the MSSRS grid with the assigned level.
- If the MSSRS subject is 'vocational, ' then Coursework grades will show on the MSSRS grade page. Only these subjects can use the CW tag.
- There must be only one tag in the SBA and/or CW target term.
- We will be able to help migrate historic assessments to add the new tags.
You can manually open each student to add grades and levels if appropriate.
Use the filters to list by session or student.
Computing the grades
Once the grades have been entered, you can pull them to the MSSRS grid for export to MATSEC.
Choose the academic year and target class level. It is important to choose the correct target term. Choose to populate all grades for all subjects or pull per subject.
Export to MATSEC
Once all grades have been populated, you can switch to the export tab. Choose to export the session. Do not close the tab while the report is compiling.
The report is in a specific format and should not be changed in any way. Now, you have to import the file onto the MATSEC platform.
