MySchool is a tool used to build engagement within your school. Not only for academic purposes but also to encourage communication and engagement with general school life. They have no need to access other platforms and they can enhance their in-class education with a blended online approach.
From assignment submissions, quizzes, detailed feedback and course information, the student portal is a one-stop shop for all their needs. They have access to easy file storage. They can choose elective subjects and even submit self-reflections for their own grade report. With My Courses they have access to course material covering all the years they have been enrolled in your school.
How to control access
When onboarding, students can sometimes take a back seat to your plans, but they can provide the push to really get the most out of your MySchool system. The students will need to have access to an email and need a primary email in their profiles. Talk with your CSM and we can change system settings to activate certain levels or deactivate for younger levels. Once your Educators have started to populate course information, you can send invitations to your students and promote the use of the platform internally.
Organise a meeting with your CSM to decide on which functionalities you would like to provide to the students. We can reorganise and reword certain labels if you have a preferred name for the tools avaialble.

Top tips to build engagement
- If you are using the behaviour system, consider adding points and positive actions. Students can log in to check their scores.
- Consider sharing files, student handbooks, and course material using My Files. It makes it easier for the students to manage instead of via email. If it is in relation to an assignment, then add the file as a resource to the actual assignment.
- Activate file submissions for assignments or allow students to use MySchool to actually enter their assignments directly via MySchool.
- Enable a forum in a homeroom to let pupils chat about school events or non-academic issues.
- Fill out course descriptions with details and hyperlinks. List topics to be covered so that students can prepare ahead.
- Add self-reflections to your assessment build. Create a general subject, and get them to give feedback on how they are doing in school life.
- Consider only publishing certain announcements on MySchool, this will encourage the students to log in to recover the message.
- Why not introduce a lesson on MySchool Student portal in one of your ICT courses?
