Monitoring and tracking behaviour or discipline is key to building engagement with the platform. MySchool behaviour monitoring is configurable and designed to help log and communicate events outside of the standard grade book or grade report.
We like to promote that the behaviour module can be used to reward students for positive actions rather than negative ones. An encouraging notification sent to the guardians or the Head of school can act as a token reinforcer of positive reinforcement.
NB: We are able to amend certain text labels for this module to match your internal nomenclature. Organise a meeting with your CSM to see where we can help.
Set up the categories
The permission to access the configuration panel is discipline administrator. The panel can be accessed via the configuration menu/Education, or Behaviour/Advanced options.
First, we need to determine the categories and subcategories. When a user creates an event a preset list of categories is shown.
Each category can be modified to trigger an automated notification to specific target groups. Choose to inform parents, a specific staff group, class Teacher, or Mentor(LSE). Choose an appropriate setting for each category and group.
Add an entry to add a category and if you have a point system then give the event a point value. If you do not then leave it as N/A.
The options available for each group determine how the event mailing list is created. Here are the options;
Class level default | The system will check the settings in Email notices. This is designed to change the behaviour per class level. |
Never | The designated group will not be included in the mailing list. |
Yes | The target group will be included in the target group, and cannot be removed by the author of the event. |
Managed by Reporter - Selected | The members of the target group will be included and selected to receive the notification. The author can unselect them if appropriate. |
Managed by reporter - Un-Selected | The members of the target group will be included and un-selected to receive the notification. The author can select them if appropriate. |
To understand, it is best to create an event and check the recipients. Here is an example;

Subcategories
In some cases, you may wish to subcategorise further. This is not mandatory, however. Open the subcategory option and add them to the list.
Set up the locations
Locations are not mandatory when creating an event. Open the Add location option and create a list of areas that you may wish to use.
Determine how the notifications are set by class level
If you have set any category to Class level default, you need to configure these per class level. This will not override any instruction given in the category settings.
What notification is sent?
If you have access to Edit messages, you can change the message template. Please do not remove the replacement tags EVENT_ DESCRIPTION or ACTION_ TAKEN. Unless you wish to not show these and just inform users that an event was made.
Where can we see the events?
All the events can be viewed using the report pages attached to the module. For quick access, they are listed on the Behaviour Attendance tab for individual students.
Guardians and students can have a Menu header with the same information.
If you would like us to add this to their portals, ask your CSM to activate it for you.
