In preparation for some big module and system changes, the team have been working hard on some of your ideas and improvements that were planned in the product road map. First and foremost we would like to thank you for your engagement in the new ideas portal. Please keep submitting these and the product team will be able to get feedback from the community to help build and develop even better tools for our MySchool community.
New features added 1st Dec 2020
Non binary gender
We have added the non binary gender 'X' to the choices located in the gender field of student/user profiles. Certain reports may still be constrained, please raise a ticket with the URL of the report that would need to include this information.
Staff consent
We have now amended consent management so that you can collect consent from your staff members.
Create as per students, but choose staff as the target. Enrolment will be valid from the first day and not renewable, whereas Yearly will be refreshed at each rollover.
We are working on improving the questionnaire to open this to staff members and students, but for the moment the consents must be collected via announcements or sharing a common file using MyFiles. The administration/HR team will have to manually enter the details into their staff members profile.
MySchool assessment report
Most of our schools have opted to start using the new assessment report feature, which has empowered them to create amazing customised reports built to provide the maximum information to students and guardians. With the current global situation, we feel it is important to provide a maximum of feedback to your community by adapting your assessment criteria using subject specifications, employing a a continuous assessment outlook, and collecting evidence over a term for your learning outcomes. If you still would like to move to this new model then please contact our support team to assist in building your first reports.
GPA included
In the assessment report template, you can include a students GPA calculation relative to the assessment period. This will only calculate if you have selected a numerical grade entry in subject specifications. Activate the option to include in GPA within the subject management page.
To show the calculation in the report template then add the Grade point average section and order accordingly. The unweighted is a simple average of subject grade field (Grade+Grade+Grade/3). The weighted average uses the subject credit field as the weight.
Student Label info
We have created another section which allows schools to create personalised information blocks which pick up information directly from the students profile. These include all customs fields. Use the rich text editor to add comments or build an info sheet for each student.
Adding the signatory role
In the review page, there is the facility to add a class or head of school comment to the students report card. If you attach a signature file type to the staff members profile, then it can also show the Job title field information if entered on the users staff profile.
Admissions workflow
If you fill out the start date within an applicants information panel, this information will automatically populate the start date within the students profile. It will not affect enrolment dates in classes or courses.
Subject Specification improvements
Subject specifications need to be rolled over on a yearly basis, but many of our schools are following centralised learning outcomes. These may need to be imported in bulk on a yearly basis. A new template has been added for you to complete the mapping. Please do not change the template headers nor column ordering. Otherwise this will cause the import to corrupt.
Also if you choose to have attendance as an assessment criteria, you can now show this as a percentage or a straight count.
Quick report improvements
We are trying to centralise MySchool reporting into the quick report feature. Due to this we are adding options on a regular basis, here is a short list of improvements;
- Export student secondary email fields
- If the student is enrolled in multiple schools then this will be exported in the school field.
- Added the export option to show whether guardians have chosen to receive essential emails or not
Subject and Course credits
Credit fields can be found on a subject and a course level. This field is mandatory and will be auto populated with the value 0. If you change this on a subject level to another value then all new courses attached to the subject will pull this information accordingly. It will not populate preexisting subject/courses. It will also work when creating courses in bulk.
Assignment submissions
We have tidied up certain pages where students can submit their work, in certain areas, a submit button was appearing even if the submission option was set to 'Do not accept' in the assignment. Also if the student presses the submit button with no attachement or text submission a pop up will ask them to confirm their 'empty' submission.
Changes to the attendance/assignment dashlet
On the parent portal, one of the default dashlets has been improved for the guardian portal. Previously the students would show on separate tabs. Now the information shown will be controlled by the the selected student option in the menu headers.
Room appointments
When you create an appointment within My Schedule, you can book a room in the options. If the room is deleted in room management, you will have a first warning if courses have been assigned, and then a second warning panel to advise you that there are ongoing appointments attached. Choose whether to cancel all appointments or move to another room.
Administrative updates
Our admin updates, the attendance management tool for administrators has been reworked. The columns should now resize correctly across devices. If you have chosen to show the Passport/ID field on reports for your system then they will also appear here as a column.
