Streams and modules - Building the programme content

Once you have built the outline of your programme, you can now finalise the offered content by adding streams and modules (Courses). Open the programme and use the configuration tab to start building the content.

Streams are options within a programme. You can decide whether applicants can apply for multiple streams, or just one per programme. Please contact our support team for further information, and to change the settings for this. 

Modules are the programme equivalent of MySchool courses, when you create a module, this is then added to the course list within the target class level of the programme. As with all courses, these must be attached to a subject for assessment purposes using subject specifications.

Programmes can be single modules, multiple mandatory modules, multi-stream modules, or a blend of both. Talk to your CSM to determine which is the best mix for your institute.

Adding the content

Create your streams before the modules, as a module cannot be added to a stream if it is created beforehand. The stream provides the applicants with a choice of content at the application phase. Deleting the stream will delete the modules included in the folder.

Click on add a module, and a slide-over screen will allow you to pick an existing subject, or create a new one. As usual, subject names need to be unique.

Note that subjects control assessments, so a programme student cannot be enrolled into multiple modules attached to the same subject. 

Don't forget that modules are courses, so make sure they are not too long, as they may not fit on assessments, assignments, or schedule views on smaller screen devices. they do not have to be unique, but use the code field to ensure Administrators can filter easily in list module view mode. the educator field is the equivalent of a course teacher and will give access to the course teacher user group settings.

Programmes are designed to be used with the ad hoc lesson planner. Ask our support team to make sure this setting is enabled for your system. You will still need to have a timetable configured in order to add these lessons and make them viewable on the Educator and student portals.

Periods are unique, so even if you adjust the time slots when adding lessons, but use the same period across modules, the attendance statuses will overwrite one another. Talk to our support team for help and guidance on this.

Once the streams and modules are created, you can start building your assessment configuration, and open your programme for applications. As with our default academic structure, modules are not included in the programme rollover and will need to be created each year the same as a course.
