Having a comprehensive profile of your students is fundamental to the MySchool system. Medical records need to be as clear as possible to help school admin and medical staff deal with any situation. The system has a complete list of medical records and attaches the information to the student profile.
How to access
The list of Medical record types is located in the Administer menu header, under Advanced options. In the list find Medical record types. It is attached to the role of Administer medical record types.
Editing the Medical record types
The record types are listed under general headings to group similar events. The various conditions, allergies, immunisations or health information will be classed as 'Information'. They will appear in the Health tab on the student profile.
The Medical Events tab is populated by clinic visits and 3rd party medical intervention details. These events and types can be reconfigured in the advanced options.
The list is classed by category and label. The labels can be placed in any category by opening Edit.
1. Category
The heading under which the Type or Event will be placed. The label is the name of the condition or the Medical event.
2. Edit|Delete
The label can be edited or removed. When you edit the label, you can edit the label/category and also automatically update the guardians by e-mail in case the event occurs. Save your changes.
3. Referred to 3rd party medical care
This for example would be classed as an event in the student profile.
4. Cannot be deleted
This means that there is a student who has been assigned this label in the data. MySchool will stop the Administrator from deleting this in order to maintain data integrity. To delete the label, click on View Students and go to their individual record to remove the record type first.
Student medical alert
The system can be configured to place a marker on the student's profile. It will also appear on certain list views.
Set up the individual health records
Once you have structured the types to your needs and entered new types/events as per requirements. The next steps would be to make sure these are entered into the student records. Note that teachers will not have access to the Student health tab as default, nor be able to update the records. These are restricted to Administrators, Super admins and Nurse roles.
The Default settings are based on standard security. Administrators have the right to enter, edit and view medical information. Nurses also can have this security role. Contact the support team for information if you are unsure.
