Tuition management - Discounts - Where can you apply them

The tuition management module has a flexible discount system, allowing for staff, sibling and individual discounts. You can also apply discounts to your payment plans to help promote this option to your customers. Discount can also be added to ad hoc fees.

Individual discount

Each individual student can have a discount associated to invoice items raised to their profile. This is a percentage discount fee. It is a discount that will apply to all pre created line items, excluding ad hoc fees.

This is set on the finance tab of the student profile. it will apply to all contributors attached to the student. Other discounts can still apply. All discounts will be taken from the original line item amount.

Staff discount

Staff discounts are applied within a fee. It is a percentage discount based on whether the main contributor is set as an active member of staff.

If the student has split payments between two parents, the staff member must be set as the main contributor, and the discount will apply to both customers. If the staff member is set as the split with contributor, the discount will not be applied.

Sibling discount

Sibling discounts are applied within a fee. They can either be percentage discount per child or a flat fee.

The children must be attached to the invoice payer to activate the discount. Split payment customers will not have the discount.

Discounted payment plans

If you have activated payment plans on your fees, a incentive discount can be applied to your customers who chose to pay via this method. This can either be a percentage or flat fee discount. It will be applied to each calculated instalment. 

Ordering of fee discounts

With the fee discounts of staff or sibling, you can determine their ordering. 

• Staff discount then dependant discount - This will take the fee value, and firstly apply the staff discount percentage. The new base value will have the sibling discount applied to this new value.

• Dependant discount then staff discount - This will apply the sibling discount to the base fee value, then add the percentage staff discount to this new discounted value

• Combined - Both discounts will be applied to the base fee value accordingly. Both reductions wil be discounted from this original fee.
