We are upgrading our course resource module to improve accessibility to the most popular tools.
Access to the LMS will now be from the course resource management page for all staff who currently already have access to the LMS/VLE. We can even add it to the quick links tool if you prefer, ask your CSM to activate this after migration.
For clients on package deals, or legacy clients not using LMS, then please contact our support desk to discuss upgrading your contract.
Who can access the new LMS (learning management system)?
This will be found in the administer menu header and replaces the course resource page. It is designed for class and course Educators to get quick access to the tools they use on a daily basis. Administrators or super users with broader access can still view course content using the list feature.
What does it show?
The LMS module shows an overview of students, course resource content, assignments, assessments, video conferencing and course diary entries. Let's start by looking at each tab and how these can help you to manage student information more quickly and easily.
Student info
The photo, name, and passport are shown in the student profile fields. The blue notebook icon is connected to the notes tab located within the student profile. This is used to share information relative to the student between educators and staff.
Open the note, by clicking on the icon. A slide-over will appear showing the options, and asking you the section to put them in, and who should be able to see these.
These notes will remain visible under the green notebook icon but also become available on the student profile. Just be aware of who has access to this information within your institute. Each note is time-stamped and attributed to a user. They will not be shown to guardians or students.
Medical alerts are added within the medical tab of the student profile, and you need to have these activated on your system.
The balance icon is for legal alerts, which are stored on the legal tab of a student's profile. Once activated it will be green and course educators can mouse over the icon for more information.
Super users can add conditions using the Medical Record Type Management functionality.
If the student has an active IEP, then the IEP icon will be green. The full IEP is available in mentoring/IEP module.

Quick access features
With the new layout, educators have quick access to take missing attendance and add their contributions to the assessment grid directly from this page.
Content and assignments
All the VLE course resources have been transferred to the new LMS page. Educators can create lesson plans, group content by topic, add assignments and quizzes, open a chat forum, and integrate with LTI-compliant software.
For more details then check out these articles ;
The assignment tab will list the assignments only, showing how many remain ungraded. Click to open the slide over grading panel and give feedback to the students on their submissions.
Don't forget that students can submit work either via a text box within MySchool or by attaching a file. Educators can then return this to them when graded and corrected.
The assessment tab allows educators to access their respective assess grid to be able to contribute to the term grade report.
Video conferencing
You can add a video conferencing link if you are using Zoom or google meet to hold your class. You may even prepare a tutorial for your students to be able to prepare or revise for an up-and-coming lesson and topic.
The student can view these directly on their My Schedule for the relevant course during the active period.
Course diary
We have integrated this feature into the new LMS module. Educators can enter a comment which is saved on the student's My Courses page. Much like the lesson planner, course diary entries are logged and can have both private and public comments. Public comments will be shared with students and guardians, whereas Private is for the educators attached to that particular course.
Click on one of the grey-circled days, as this is when the course is scheduled. If the circle is blue then an entry has already been saved. Add public-facing comments or feedback about the lesson in the Public comment field.
Additional features for class Educators
If you enrolled as a class Teacher on the system, you will have different options as you will not be able to create course-specific content.
You are still able to view the class list, see the student's timetable, add notes, and view medical and legal alerts. If attendance is set to class attendance for that class level then incomplete attendance will be shown here.
Open the course tab and you can see all the courses in which your class students are currently enrolled into. Open the complete list by clicking on the arrow next to the student list.
In the assessment tab, instead of access to the course assessment, class educators directly access the review tab. They are able to read the contributions from the course educators and add their class Teacher review comments. Educators cannot edit course contributions though, this can only be done on the review page itself. Class educators can lock the contributions by marking the assessment as reviewed.
Report card administrators or Super users with access should check the assessment report build to check that this is enabled.
