FAQ - Why can't I see the student, guardian or teacher user group in the security tab?

Ever wondered why you cant see the student, staff, course/class Teacher or even guardian user group?

Don't panic, it's normal. These are called inherent groups. You cannot manually add a user to these groups, they inherit the access depending on the below parameters;

• Students automatically become part of the student user group when they are in a class for the current academic year.
• Guardians need t be attached to a student who is enrolled in a class for the current academic year.
• Course/Class Teachers inherit the user group access when they are attached to a class or a course or both in the current academic year.
• All employees inherit the basic access rights of the staff group when they are made active employees.

NB: You will also see that the member list tab within these user groups is grey. This again is normal.
