For many of you, it is the end of another great academic year, and the summer holidays can't come soon enough. For others, don't worry, our team is still available during the summer months and will continue with our roadmap to make MySchool even better in 26/27.
API
API is the word! We are in the final testing and release of Open API and webhooks, allowing your MySchool data to link up with other software. But what are API's and webhooks?
Open API and webhook connections give schools a simple, secure way to connect other tools they already use, such as payment systems or parent communication apps, directly to your MySchool platform. Open API acts like a set of clearly defined doors that other systems can use to request or send information automatically, while webhooks let the platform notify connected tools the moment something important happens, like a new grade or attendance record being entered, so information stays accurate and up to date without anyone having to check manually.
API's are part of the integration package, which is an add-on module. We will keep you informed when it has been fully released. Contact your CSM to discuss integration needs.
Admissions management filter improvement
Improvements were made to make the admissions management view, making it easier to work with following user testing after the intial release;
All scholastic years can be selected in the year filter. Note that these are the applicants' chosen target application years.
Added a filter for the name of a submitter.
Reordered inquiries to show newest -> oldest
Filters now remain in place when navigating between tabs.
Added a student school start date to the admission form builder.
Added marketing source to the form builder and made it a filter on the management view.
Grade report acknowledgement
We have released a new addition to the assessment module, which allows guardians to submit an online acknowledgement to confirm they have received the grade reports. For more information, please check out this article for further information.
Dogwood diploma (BC)
Due to local provincial requirements, we introduced a module to help track students' progress towards their dogwood diplomas. For further information, check out this article. Our product team is working on expanding this feature to allow non BC schools to use the tag system to create custom progress reports based on course/subject tags.
Programme builder improvements
We have been working on some enhancements for our standalone Programme builder module;
Introduced an activation time which opens the programmes automatically at a given time if the programme is saved as a draft. The applications can also have a close date and time for applications.
Automated payment reminders can be set up to send reminders to applicants who have not paid the programme fees. This has a customisable message template and duration setting.
Here is a comprehensive list of updates and fixes released;
System - Changed the behaviour of saved application forms, which were being triggered even when saving as a draft. These will now only be saved once the form has been submitted.
System - Fixed an issue with bulk emailing donors from donation management.
School (ON) - Printing admissions forms with formatted admission forms was repaired, and formatting was respected in browser print mode.
System - Student profiles could not be deleted if an IEP was attached to them. The system will now allow profiles to be deleted even if IEP's are connected. All data will be deleted in this case.
System - Periods were not saving to newly created courses. This was resolved.
Project (EU) - Updated a custom report template for the network.
System - Reformatted the My Courses page to size when viewing on smaller-sized screens.
School - Upgraded a supported custom report to include more data.
System - Quick reports v2 data sources are now associated with a relevant permission.
Project (MT) - Solved an issue with custom attendance dashlet and attendance details not showing.
System - Improved the medical certificate upload to process the uploaded photo first before exiting the page. This was causing a processing error with lower-bandwidth devices.
System - Made improvements to the student subject selector, which was not respecting mandatory subjects. Students can no longer override this decision. Also improved the credit count to be associated with the selection, rather than a static total.
School (BC) - Fixed a data issue with a saved admissions form.
System - Updated the relationship manager field to pull current staff users.
System - Legacy quick report school filter was not working as expected. This was improved.
Project (EU) - Changed the behaviour of a custom assessment validation checker, which was replaced as a suggestion rather than a stop to validation.
System - Updated the re-enrolment student selector to respect the main guardian only.
System - Improved the sort function on the campaign management tab when sorting by campaign date.
System - Upgraded TinyMCE rich text and fixed underlying issues.
System - Resolved an issue where donors could not be added to campaigns and the processing bar would hang.
Project (EU) - Added an enhancement to allow for importing of oral grades for custom assessment build.
System - Changed the behaviour in the event module to show on students' My Schedule view.
School (MT) - Fixed an issue where class levels were not showing in the applicant profile view for admissions.
Project (EU) - Removed duplicate entries showing on the legacy custom contribute page.
School (MT) - Resolved an issue with attendance reports.
School (BC) - Fixed an issue with custom transcript not pulling all grades.
- System - Updated the donation module to allow for the donor's current status to show next to their name (Student, Staff, Guardian, and Donor). This was also added to the super search feature, whereby dependent students can be seen when searching for the user.
- System - Updated the one roster integration to include the ID/Passport field.
- School (MT) - Fixed an issue with attendance data not showing due to a change in timetabling. The hard-coded logic was updated.
- School (BC) - Fixed an issue with historic data causing errors when opening an old profile. A system pop-up will inform users of the error.
- School (BC) - An issue with a merged profile was causing problems, as financial data was not merged. This was fixed.
- System - Changed the staff list export to be Excel rather than PDF.
- System - Resolved an issue with v16 schools not being able to use Admin updates in the attendance module.
- System - An error occurred on the user group school affiliation. This was fixed.
- School (EU) - Fixed an issue causing application forms to throw a system error when opening them.
- School (EU) - TinyMCE update caused issues with comment fields on the legacy custom contribution page.
- System (BC) - Reordered 'Other inclusions' within PSR to be chronological.
- System - Fixed an issue whereby voided donations would still be included in the total campaign amount received.
- System - V16 updates caused issues with course diary loadouts. This was fixed.
- System - An issue arose with online payments changing the amount when processing donations. This was fixed, and amounts stay the same across all stages of payment.
- Project (MT) - Assessments were not showing correctly when students were enrolled in two separate schools.
- School (BC) - Fixed an issue with IEP data, which was stopping the school from deleting an IEP.
- System - Users who have had invoices or payments raised against them can no longer be deleted.
- System - Updated the UI when creating fees with multiple conditional values to show all values.
- Project (MT) - Implemented custom payment reminders to be sent for programme builder applicants who have applied but not paid.
- Project (MT) - Improved PDF layout for IEP's
- System - Introduced a system setting to customise the number of days that a medical certificate will allow for uploading. This was set as the default to 6 days; it can now be changed per system.
- Project (EU) - Updated the layout of a custom grade report.
- System - Updated the UI for admission forms when using mobile devices.
- System - An automated system mail was added to edit messages, to allow schools to customise the mail body.
- System - Updated the Admissions module fee step to show which organisation the fee is connected to when adding to a workflow.
- System - Updated the formula with an override field to respect the decimal settings in subject specifications when producing the PDF grade report.
- Project (EU) - Reverted a grade validation check to become a suggestion for users only.
- School (US) - Updates to custom transcript page.
- School (MT) - Resolved an issue with tax certificates not showing when a valid user was selected.
- Project (MT) - Made changes to remove file deletion from a custom My Contacts page.
- System - Changes were made to ASC import course mapping and creation.
- System - An error was showing when using the bulk subject creation functionality. This was fixed.
- Project (EU) - Introduced a new status selector to show the promotion decision for students leaving the school on custom report cards.
- Project (EU) - Updated custom grade report formatting as translations caused issues with bleeding.
- School (BC) - Updated custom transcript grade code for multiple schools.
